What we do
The Food Rescue Hub is a food distribution warehouse initiative located in Woodstock. We rescue and redistribute surplus food to charities and groups that feed people in need. We are the central hub that makes it possible for others to serve more, waste less, and reach further.
Every meal starts somewhere – and it starts with us
We Reduce Food Waste
We communicate weekly with grocery stores, food processors and others who may have excess food. This way nothing is wasted.
We Connect Organizations
We are the link that connects surplus food with organizations who distribute the food to those who need it most.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are a volunteer led organisation utilising our local community to pack, distribute and deliver food to various charitable organizations.
Why this matters
One in four households in our region does not have enough food to eat. This is leading to chronic hunger and it is happening in our community every day.
- Many frontline groups feeding people regularly lack the space, staffing, or equipment to manage high volumes of excess food.
- Food donors are overwhelmed by requests from individual groups, leading to inefficiency and wasted volunteer resources.
- Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. By centralizing food rescue efforts, the Hub brings together food donors and community organizations. It’s a one-stop shop where shared resources lead to shared impact.
Did you Know…
This means they lack the financial means to consistently access enough nutritious food. People eat less than they need, consume less nutritious food, skip meals, and sometimes go for days without eating. This is happening in our community every day.
Feeding People Is the Outcome
Building the network that makes it possible is our mission. We are building the infrastructure that empowers frontline groups to feed more people, more efficiently, with less waste.
