What we do
Food Rescue Hub is a food warehouse based in Woodstock, Ontario, serving Oxford County.
We are the link between food donors (such as growers, producers, processors, distributors and retailers) and the frontline charities and not-for-profits feeding people every day. The Food Rescue Hub makes it easier, faster, and more efficient for these organizations to access surplus food and then use it where it’s needed most: to feed people who do not have enough to eat.
The Food Rescue Hub was created for a simple but urgent reason: too much good food is going to waste, while too many vulnerable people in our community are struggling to eat.
The purpose of the Food Rescue Hub is to support, strengthen, and make it easier to expand the work already being done by charities and non-profit organizations who feed people going hungry in Oxford County. Working together, we can help more people in our neighbourhoods who often don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

We Reduce Food Waste
We communicate weekly with grocery stores, food processors and others who may have excess food. This way nothing is wasted.
We Connect Organizations
We are the link that connects surplus food with organizations who distribute the food to those who need it most.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are a volunteer led organisation utilising our local community to pack, distribute and deliver food to various charitable organizations.
Why this matters
Food insecurity is affecting people in Oxford every day. The most vulnerable among us (seniors, children, susceptible families, people with disabilities, newcomers, and people living in rural communities) are struggling to access affordable food. They are counting on us to help.
- Frontline organizations often lack the space, staffing, or equipment to receive, handle and use the large volume of excess food that is available (skids and tractor trailer loads).
- Food donors often receive requests from multiple organizations. Many prefer to donate their full surplus in one pickup because they do not have the time or resources to coordinate several smaller donations.
- Large quantities of good food regularly end up in landfills in our community as a result.
That’s where the Hub helps.
By centralizing food rescue efforts in our community, we support, strengthen, and make it easier to expand the work that our community partner charities and non-profits are already doing.

Feeding People Is the Outcome
1. Food is Donated
Surplus food is donated from a variety of sources. It would otherwise go to waste.
2. The Hub Coordinates
We receive, sort, and temporarily store food safely at our Woodstock warehouse. We then notify our frontline partners what is available.
3. Community Partners Feed People
Local charities and food programs access what is available at the Food Rescue Hub and in turn feed people in our community
